A project team setup is a purposive structure and usually comprises varying team size, team composition and requirements to achieve the project goals within certain resources and time constraints (Project Management Institute, 2008). Challenges usually arise relating to forming team trust, team cohesion, team satisfaction and team effectiveness due to temporary nature of the project team in a multi-ethnical and multi-cultural, as compared to teams which are ongoing. According to Tuckmans model (Tuckman, Bruce W. (1965) there are four stages of team formation there are; (i) forming at this stage most members are positive and polite as they are get to know each other and build relationships. (ii) The storming stage; people get to push boundaries as this is where personality clashes occur. Some team members may become frustrated with approaches at this stage and may start questioning team strategy and start avoiding tasks. It is important to note some teams never make it past this stage. (iii)At the norming stage team members start resolving their differences building on each member’s strengths and respecting each team member. Performing is the last phase; at this stage team begins to achieve most of its goals without friction with the help of structures and processes setup.
